Our God is in Control...
"A man from Norfolk , VA called a local radio station to share this on Sept 11th, 2003, TWO YEARS AFTER THE TRAGEDIES OF 9/11/2001.
His name was Robert Matthews. These are his words:
"A few weeks before Sept. 11th, my wife and I found out we were going to have our first child.. She planned a trip out to California to visit her sister. On our way to the airport, we prayed that God would grant my wife a safe trip and be with her. Shortly after I said 'amen,' we both
heard a loud pop and the car shook violently. We had blown out a tire. I replaced the tire as quickly as I could, but we still missed her flight. both very upset, we drove home.
I received a call from my father who was retired NYFD. He asked what my wife's flight number was, but I explained that we missed the flight.
My father informed me that her flight was the one that crashed into the southern tower. I was too shocked to speak. My father also had more news for me; he was going to help. 'This is not something I can't just sit by for; I have to do something.'
I was concerned for his safety, of course, but more because he had never given his life to Christ. After a brief debate, I knew his mind was made up. Before he got off of the phone, he said, 'take good care of my grandchild. Those were the last words I ever heard my father say; he died while helping in the rescue effort.
My joy that my prayer of safety for my wife had been answered quickly became anger. I was angry at God, at my father, and at myself. I had gone for nearly two years blaming God for taking my father away. My son would never know his grandfather, my father had never accepted Christ, and I never got to say good-bye.
Then something happened. About two months ago, I was sitting at home with my wife and my son, when there was a knock on the door. I looked at my wife, but I could tell she wasn't expecting anyone. I opened the door to a couple with a small child.
The man looked at me and asked if my father's name was Jake Matthews. I told him it was. He quickly grabbed my hand and said, 'I never got the chance to meet your father, but it is an honor to meet his son.'
He explained to me that his wife had worked in the World Trade Center and had been caught inside after the attack. She was pregnant and had been caught under debris. He then explained that my father had been the one to find his wife and free her. My eyes welled up with tears as I thought of my father giving his life for people like this. He then said, 'there is something else you need to know.'
His wife then told me that as my father worked to free her, she talked to him and led him to Christ. I began sobbing at the news.
Now I know that when I get to Heaven, my father will be standing beside Jesus to welcome me, and that this family would be able to thank him themselves .
When their baby boy was born, they named him Jacob Matthew, in honor of the man who gave his life so that a mother and baby could live."
This story should help us to realize this: God is always in control..
We may not see the reason behind things, and we may never know this side of heaven, but God is ALWAYS in control.
Please take time to share this amazing story. You may never know the impact it may have on someone. God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures Forever. Psalm 136:1"

A quick thought
Here is a quote from "My Utmost for His Highest"
"As long as I dwell on my own qualities and traits and think about what I am suited for, I will never hear the call of God. But when God brings me into the right relationship with Himself , I will be in the same condition Isaiah was."
Isaiah 6:8 says "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me.""
Now go lick and chew on that ;)

Song of the week: Revolutionaries by Bethany Dillion
Okay here is the Song of the week. Suggested by my best friend Lea!!! Have grown to love this song!!!! Now I can't seem to find the music to this song. Sorry!
Revolutionaries by Bethany Dillon
Many have traveled this road before
I see their tracks in the dirt
But maybe I don't agree
With where they are leading
And who am I, just a youth
But why has that become the excuse
A monotone voice
In my head saying
Dreaming all the time
It's so foolish
Your flood of empty words
Will drown you in ruin
So we listen
Should we listen.
They shake their heads
As they drive away in the bandwagon
Didn't feel like hitching a ride
Oh, but I'll be fine
Some nights it's hard to be alone
I want some kind of kinship
But the finish line
It drives me on
When they say.
Dreaming all the time
It's so foolish
Your flood of empty words
Will drown you in ruin
So we listen
Should we listen
Come with me
They'll call us revolutionaries
Come with me
They'll call us revolutionaries
Revolutionaries
Revolutionaries
Dreaming all the time
It's not foolish
Your flood of life giving words
They will refresh, they will refresh
Dreaming all the time
It's not foolish
Your flood of life giving words
They will refresh
Should we listen
Revolutionaries

Revolutionaries......... we are Christian are supposed to be revolutionaries. We aren't supposed to be like the world and try to fit in. It is hard to be different. When the world is saying one thing and you know it is wrong it is hard to go the other way. Wrong, ungodly things are all around us, on the internet, in books, magazines, TV, music, we are surrounded by it. But how can we keep our thoughts and actions pure and focused on God?
Well this is where I think we can apply what Mr. Parelli says "See what others do and do the opposite".
Now that doesn't mean you can't go onto the internet, watch TV, read magazines but we have to choose what we read, look at and watch. I know I have had to do that and it doesn't take long before it gets easier and easier and then the temptation of reading or watching something that isn't good goes away.
Last fall there was a show on TV that my mom, sister and I were watching and it started out pretty good. We had watched all of the first season before and when the second season came on TV we started watching it also. The first season wasn't to bad but there were, of course some things that were not right [i.e. immodest clothing and some improper relationships] but for the most part the show was good. Now when the second season comes along it had way gotten worse. Long story short my mom started previewing the shows and editing out the bad parts before the rest of us could watch but it got to the point where it wasn't even worth it so we stopped watching it all together.
Now the interesting thing was that when we stopped watching it I felt a million times better because I wasn't putting into my mind things that where wrong. God really helped us because when the time came for us to stop watching it we were ready to stop. It wasn't hard for us to stop watching it. I was tired of the bad things and fed up with it all.
Proverbs 4:23 says "Keep your heart with all diligence; for out if it comes the issues of life"
Okay that was longer then I thought it would be. Sorry about that.
Until next time!!

As requested: "Before you meet Prince Charming" summary
"Through out the book we follow a Princess who is waiting for her "Prince Charming" and trying to keep herself pure but she struggles with everyday things that come up. As she goes through the story her father and mother are there to help her and answer the questions that she has. Along with a very annoying alligator [or at least I think he is annoying ;)] that tries to persuade her to think differently and to think that she is to protected and sheltered. Every chapter starts out with the Princess story and then the rest of the chapter Sarah Mally talks about some of the things that the Princess was going through and that we might be going through too. Plus different struggles that are common.
There are a lot of bible verses in each chapter plus memory verses that you can memorize.
Here are some of the things that are talked about in the book...
- Dangers with the dating system
- Guard your heart
- When God says wait
- How parents can help
- Have a life purpose bigger than marriage
- Delighting in the Lord
Also in the book are testimonies from other people who have waited are are happily married with there "Prince Charming" and also from people who didn't wait at first but by God's grace kept them safe but they still live with the scars from the past."
Here is a summary that I got off the internet.
"How can young people be committed to purity and to God's best? This guide to radiant purity combines the story of a young princess with solid, clear teaching of Biblical convictions that young ladies today need to grasp. Through a captivating fairy tale, modern day examples, practical instruction, and abundant humor, Sarah Mally challenges young ladies to turn to the Lord for fulfillment, to guard their hearts and minds, to identify and avoid the world's thinking, and to shine brightly in this generation. This book offers Biblical answers to every day questions and deep life struggles."

Just thinking...
I am still working through the chapter "When God says wait" it is really good. After I am done reading this chapter I will do a little re-cap of it and tell you all what I thought of it.
Here is a quote
" Times of waiting take us to deeper levels of trust, strengthen our faith, remind us to abide in Christ, and teach us to delight in the Lord"
Something to think about...
" If we can learn now how to patiently rest in the Lord, think how invaluable this "skill" will be throughout our entire lives." Hmmmmm.....

Lryics of the week! "I’m Letting Go"
Okay guys every week I am going to pick a song/lyrics for that week and for that week I am going to try and live that song. So this weeks song is "I’m Letting Go" by Francesca Battistelli.
If you have a favourite song let me know and I will check it out!!! It might just make it to the song of the week!!
If you want to here the song you can scroll down to the bottom of my blog and it is song #5 on the playlist.
I’m Letting Go by Francesca Battistelli
My heart beats, standing on the edge
But my feet have finally left the ledge
Like an acrobat
There’s no turning back
Chorus
I’m letting go
Of the life I planned for me
And my dreams
Losing control
Of my destiny
Feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
So I’m letting go
This is a giant leap of faith
Trusting and trying to embrace
The fear of the unknown
Beyond my comfort zone
Chorus
I’m letting go
Of the life I planned for me
And my dreams
Losing control
Of my destiny
Feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
So I’m letting go
Giving in to your gravity
Knowing You are holding me
I’m not afraid
Feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
Feels like I’m falling and this is the life for me
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what I have going to apply to my life this week [and hopefully every week, month and year after]
"I’m letting go
Of the life I planned for me
And my dreams
Losing control
Of my destiny
Feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
So I’m letting go"

I will try and post the song of the week on Monday instead of Wednesday but that is just how my week has gone.

Just a quick post
Things have been busy around here. My parents went away for three days for there anniversary. They are coming home today. I planning on making a chocolate cake for them.
Spring is here I think. It is so nice out. Yesterday I played with Twosox. Just standing there watching him I was amazed by what God has done. Coming up on 1 year of owning him I am thinking about this time last year. Look back at it God was totally in the whole process. I didn't even think that I would get Twosox but in the end it all worked out.
God has used Twosox to grow me in more ways then I even know. I have used what I learned to help me with my family and so much more. I am so blessed.
I haven't had time to read any more since my last post. Thinks have been to busy. But the house it still standing ;)
Please pray for Hannah and Blaze [here is Hannah's blog http://www.savvynightfire92.blogspot.com/] Blaze has hurt his back leg. He seems to be doing a little better but he still needs prayer. I am praying for you girl!!!

Reading...
I have been reading "Before you meet Prince Charming" by Sarah Mally. WOW!! It is really good.
I will try to pin point some of my favourite lines and thoughts.
"It requires courage to do things God's way, to wait for His timing, and to trust that He will bring you and your life partner together according to His perfect plan. It takes courage to obey when you don't understand."
Isn't that last line SO true!! That goes for every thing in life. When God says do something and we don't understand we have to have courage and trust that God knows what he is doing [and of course he always does].
"It is your heart--your own internal commitments before the Lord--that will make the difference."
It is MY heart--MY own internal commitments before the Lord--that will make the difference.
"Only those who have formed their own personal convictions will have the strength required to remain pure and the discernment needed to escape temptation"
Here is a conversation that the King and his daughter had in the story [there is a story that runs through the whole book]
""Look at this. What do you see?" her father questioned.
"A lovely rose" she said
"What color?"
"White"
"Pure white," her father emphasized. "What else do you notice?"
"Well, it is closed. It is just a bud"
"What is the inside like?" he inquired. "Open it for me."
"I can't open it for you!"
"Why not?" he asked
"Because it has to open itself," she stated.
"But I want to see the inside," repeated the king.
"Then you will have to wait for it to open when it is ready. If I force it to open, you will never see its beauty."
"But are you not overly cautious?" teased the king. "We'll only open a few petals."
"The rose is very delicate," she answered. "The petals will tear, and ti will never be the same"
"And so it is with many fair maidens," the king explained. "Their beauty is never fully seen, for they wait not for the proper time. They are handled and played with by too many a fellow. Their heart is opened prematurely. The fragrance and beauty that was intended for the perfect time is lost or damaged forever"
This is the shorter version of something that is in the book...
- The world's way is "now oriented" God's way is "future oriented"
- The world's way involves the "pain of separation" God's way involves "no separation"
- The world's way is to "get" God's way is always to "give'
- The world's way is for "pleasure" God's way is for "commitment"
- The world's way is built on "human thinking, tradition, and culture" God's way is always based on the "Word of God-- Biblical standards, principles, and goal"
- The world's way it "temporary" God's way is "permanent"
Proverbs 4:23 says "Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life." NASB
I am going to stop there for now. I will hopefully get back soon and post more of my thoughts on the book but for now think about that :)

"If we are in love with the Lord, obedience does not cost us anything---it is a delight"
I love my parents so I do what they ask me to do and in the end I feel good about obeying them just like we should love the Lord enough to do what He asks us to do.
"Will we remain faithful in our obedience to God and be willing to suffer the humiliation of refusing to be independent?"
Like Charles Stanley says "Obey God and leave ALL the consequences Him"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now I am reading through Esther. I am starting Chapter 7 today.
Here is a little bit of what I have written down from the past Chapters:
- God is powerful. If we trust Him He will help us get through tough times but it might not be on our time schedules or when we think it would be best. God might have different plans.
-Be careful that you do not make hasty decisions. You may come to regret them later. Pray and ask God for wisdom in every situation no matter how big or how small.
- If you had a decision to make and you had two chooses (1) Do it God's way and obey Him no matter what happens or (2) Do it the worlds way and the easy way. Which one would you pick?
- "... and Esther obtained favour in the sight of all who saw her." We as Christians are supposed to be different from others [the world]. If we live godly lives others will notice the difference in us. What are we looking like to others?
- Esther 3:1-2 says "1After these events King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and established his authority over all the princes who were with him.2All the king's servants who were at the king's gate bowed down and paid homage to Haman; for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai neither bowed down nor paid homage. " NASB [New American Standard Bible]
(This is from the study note in my Bible)
"Mordecai's determination came from his faith in God. He did not take a poll first to determine the safest or most popular course of action; he had the courage to stand alone. Doing what is right will not always make you popular . Those who do right wil be in the minority, but the obey God is more important than to obey people."
Acts 5:29 says " 29But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men."" NASB
-Doing the right thing can be the hardest sometimes but it is worth it. We might not get quick responses or see the results right away but we know that God is in control of everything and will do it all in His time.
- God will protect His people. No matter what happens God is still in control.
- God can see the bigger picture. When things seem to be going all wrong remember this...
"5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
6In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB

"Before you meet Prince Charming" by Sarah Mally
Are we speaking up?
"... Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." Mark 16:15
Are we speaking up? Are we telling the world that good news? The world wants Peace, Love, Kindness, and Truth. People are looking for what we have but so many times we just keep it to ourselves. Why????
Yes it can be hard, I know!! But I want others to have what I have and want to tell them the good news. But then that little voice keeps telling me "You are to shy!! What happens if you can't answer their questions?? Others who have more knowledge can do it. You just stay put and live you life"
"Speak up. Speak now. Speak loud"
Here are the lyrics to Jeremy Camps song "Speaking Louder Than Before"
Speaking Louder Than Before
Hear now this declarationFrom out across the nations
We need to wake up and understand
Many hurting hearts are crying
But our voices seem to be dying
Can you see the battle raging on?
We are the light to reach this world
We are the salt preserving these souls
Let's show them the love that we've received now
We are, we are in desperation
We need to reach this generation
We are speaking louder than before
We are the hope that's been forgotten
We have a love that will be brought and
We are speaking louder than before
Take every chance that you can
Move together taking a stand
Never losing heart, we'll speak as one
We need to be the image of Christ
Show love and serve at all times
We can make a difference in these lands
We are the light to reach this world
We are the salt preserving these souls
Let's show them the love that we've received now
We are, we are in desperation
We need to reach this generation
We are speaking louder than before
We are the hope that's been forgotten
We have the love that will be brought and
We are speaking louder than before
Everything's so surreal
But this urgency I feel
We should be reaching out to all these desperate pleas
Oh, the need is real can't you feel
This call to revolution
My beating heart is breaking for them
That's why I'm speaking now
That's why I'm speaking now
We are, we are in desperation
We need to reach this generation
We are speaking louder than before
We are the hope that's been forgotten
We have a love that will be brought and
We are speaking louder than before
We are, we are, we're speaking louder
We are, we are, we're speaking louder
We are speaking louder than before
We are speaking louder than before
Oh, yeah
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I love this part:
"We are the light to reach this world
We are the salt preserving these souls
Let's show them the love that we've received now"
How true is that???
